Why Managers Cannot Define to Delegate?

Answer - They don't understand much about delegation or how to delegate.

Definition is a must. Delegation of tasks without definition of what you want them to accomplish and by when at a minimum, is abdication of managerial duties. Unless you tell people specifically what needs to be done, you've let them decide.

If you suffer from this syndrome, there is an excellent tool is the page on critical questions a manager must ask. Who, What, When, Where, How, Why questions will help you frame the situation and help you define to delegate and how. For in depth on this process visit operational planning for a review of the questions

On another note, in case the manager was promoted because he was "the best operator", he really has delegation difficulty and usually ends up doing the work himself.
